Sickfish

Parasites

Whitespot

(White spot)

Other symptoms include

	Rapid gill movement.
	Flicking and rubbing against objects.
	Tiny White spots (like salt) visible on fishes tails, fins as well as it body.

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Whitespot, WS3, Protozin, Whitespotcure.
	In Ponds use ~ Eradick, Medifin, Anti Parasite,Algazin (P) or Whitespot cure.

Internal bacteria

Dropsy Popeye Ulcers

Abdominal swelling Swollen eyes Open sores

Other symptoms include

	Hollowing of the abdomen.
	Reddening blood streaks under the skins surface.
	Gills pale and eroded.
	Loss of appetite, listlessness and a darkening of colour.

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Internal Bacteria
	In Ponds use ~ Anti Ulcer, Medifin or Bacterad.

Fungus

Mouth fungus Fungus on the body

Cotton wool growths on mouth and on the body

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Fungus, Protozin or Fungus cure.
	In Ponds use ~ Medifin, Algazin (P), Eradick, F+M+G mix, or Fungus cure.

Finrot

Tail and Fin rot

Tail or fins being eaten away

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Fungus and Finrot, Mxyazin, Melafix or Finrot cure.
	In Ponds use ~ Anti Fungus and Bacteria, Medifin, Bacterad, or Finrot cure. Slime and Velvet

Velvet Dusting of gold / yellow spots

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Slime and Velvet or Protozin.
	In Ponds use ~ Medifin.

External Parasite

Disc or worm like parasites on the fishes body Gill maggots

Other symptoms include

	Flicking and rubbing against objects.
	Rapid gill movement.
	Red, irritated areas of skin.

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Anti Crustacean Parasite or Sterazin.
	In Ponds use ~ Sterazin (P)

Bacterial Swimbladder Infection

Fish floats Sunken fish Rolling fish

Fish floats to the surface     Fish sinks to the bottom       Fish unable to swim
    unable to swim down.         unable to swim up.           upright in the water
                                                                                 (rolls to either side).

TO CURE

	In Tanks use ~ Swimbladder treatment.
	It is most effective when used with Aqualibrium tonic salt.
	Salt to be used at the rate of 5g per litre, add over 2 days (50%) each day.

Hole in the head.

Tiny holes in the head of the fish, more common in Cichlids like Discus and Oscars.

TO CURE

In Tanks use ~ Octozin.

Oodinium (White spot) and Fungus
In Marine Fish

	In Tanks use ~ Cuprazin
	NOT TO BE USED WITH INVERTEBRATES

Prevention is better than cure !

Of course a lot of these diseases can be prevented by adding Tonic Salt to your aquarium, regularly checking the Ph and Nitrites, Keeping up with quarter water changes every 4 - 6 weeks, the temperature should be 75-80 F (24-26C).
